Description

Sayida Zeinab mosque in Damascus , Syria

Hands on her head, Zeinab called out in tears
The head at the forefront, resting on a spear
That is Hussein, the noble son of Ali
The Grandson of the Prophet, son of Fatimah dear”
“Exalted is our rank, we are of noble descent
Yet bare-headed I stand today, on a spear rests His head”

This is the Holy Tomb of Prophet Mohammad's granddaughter
Zeinab, the daughter of Ali .

Zeinab accompanied her brother Hussein, as did most of his household to Iraq. After Hussein and all his 72 companions were brutally killed at the Battle of Karbala by the order of Yazid, Zeinab was taken captive by the army of Yazid. Zeinab and the other survivors of Hussein's expedition, most of them women and children, were marched to Damascus, Yazid's capital, where they were held hostage.
Zeinab, already in anguish due to the death of her brother Hussein and her sons was forced to march unveiled. This was an extreme indignity to inflict on a high-ranking Muslim woman, the granddaughter of Muhammad.

This is a very amazing photo! I've seen a many photos of this type of architecture, but this picture definitely stands out. Everything is so intricate and detailed, it is very easy to notice that detail, which in other photos I never see so well unless its zoomed in closer. Normally I would say the lights are somewhat distracting, here I see it as providing a heavenly glow to a place of worship, I enjoy that.
The only thing I would change here is possibly the angle of the shot, the pillars seem to lean this way / having them look as this line | would be more preferable to me. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
Job well done!!!
